I have always wondered why Tesla has been a laggard when it comes to BiDi charging or as many prefer to call it V2X. One possibility was that Elon thought V2X would cannibalise Powerwall sales but IMO that was just a furphy, I think Tesla was just being lazy, they were selling everything they could produce at a high margin and just didn't need to offer any extra incentives.
At least now that their sales figures are subject to some pressure they are looking at avenues to increase the versatility/desirability of their vehicles and realise that V2X is an excellent option at minimal extra cost. Another option with a low implementation cost would be a LR RWD for the M3 and MY, not everyone wants the whiplash acceleration of the AWD but many would like to have the bigger battery.
