I have had second thoughts about Musk supporting Trump.
IMO its all about Tesla sales in the USA.
The Democrats have already committed to EV transition by offering tax breaks for EVs and effectively banning Chinese EVs access to the US market. This is a double benefit for Tesla & Musk.....fait accpompli
Of course if Trump were to be elected on his original EV /Pro Petrol Guzzler policy, this could be a substantial risk for Tesla/Musk because Trump could pull the pin on EV tax breaks and conversely offer more tax breaks for ICEs. Musk being , like Trump, a transactionalist rather than an idealist offers Trump millions in campaign donations, apes Trumps position on Immigrants/Walls (Illegal Immigrants don't buy Teslas) .
In Musk's calculations, the Trump insurance by far offsets any Brand damage in the US or Europe but China could be a different matter.
Is Musk under pressure in China with his Type 3 & Y manufacturing? Who knows? .
