it'll be interesting to see where Tesla goes with cars in the future China is really powering up in the market - and my guess is that China will build superb cars after a while kinda usual story - like the early days of Hyundai and I think it was Kia I remember passing by a TV back in ??? 98 or 99 - around then, and a friend was watching - I think it might have been the Bathurst race - and there were Hyundai's and Kias dropping like flies, they sure couldn't cut the mustard then but, Hyundai went on to be makers of some cars that just went and went and went - hundreds of thousands of kilometres, problem free, cheap as chips to run. Now we see cars like the SUV Genesis -- of all the SUV's about - I'd probably go for one of them over Merc or BMW, or AUDI, or VW or the French ones -------- I do like Audi, but the Genesis - wow. And I guess, still loads cheaper than the German ones. China will do the same trick IMO. It's not like going onto Amazon and buying some kind of Chinese solar panel or controller - where it's dammed hard to know what the quality is really - with cars - they build a following - and you know what you're buying. Unless Tesla goes full on made in China - I think it'll be up against it.

The Hyundai and Kia hit their highs a few years ago. They have regressed since. I remember the Mazda 1500 and the Datsun 1600 taking over in the '60s. They were better than the Holden but Aussies weren't ready for the change but it was the beginning of the end for the Beetle. A few years later the Datsun 1800 was the 1600 with 200 more faults. Sheet happens.
