I've always been interested in what becomes classic -

Like the Datsun 1600 as a rally car - it was the car of cars there for many years.

    I can't remember a Datsun 1800 - I remember a 180B, which morphed into a 200 B.

I enjoy looking at some of the French cars - the Citroen 2 CV - what an incredible car - and I see today that it's bloodlines have carried through to many models in ideas and concepts that have held fast from those early little cars -

which came out of a design process by a questionnaire by Michelin -

this is what people wanted -

''The car was designed to transport four people and carry a load of 50 kilograms (about 110 pounds) at a steady speed of 50 km/h (approximately 31 mph) across rough terrain, such as plowed fields, without breaking any eggs in the basket it carried

. This focus on utility and simplicity was a response to the economic conditions of the time, where affordability and reliability were paramount.'

(there was a fuel requirement as well - which doesn't show above)

I see many ideas which have carried through - like approach and departure angles and ground clearance - you can see it in little cargo work vans and some of the Citroen small cars and some of the Renaults and Peugeot as well

    timeless practical ideas
