I guess its different strokes for different folks.
IMO Hybrids are replacing diesel cars where the average driver is clocking up 20,000 k's P/A.
If you are retired and clocking up sub 10,000 kms P/A then the extra capital cost of a hybrid is doubtful, IMO. And of course it can be determental to traction batteries to park the car for more than 3 months.
IMO there is a similar graduation from Hybrids to PHEVs and on to BEVs.
So with the make/model mix of ICEs to date, there is also a mix of EVs to cater to differing needs. And then there's always the evironmental consideration which for some trumps economics.
