A friend recently bought a 1.3l turbo ICE MG.

I sent him and email today and he replied, hereunder, fwiw

My email: I have been reading recently about Xi’s dictates which mean massive overproduction of almost everything in an effort to make China self sufficient. This comes at a cost as many industries in China cannot make a profit, however that is largely covered by the CCP.

They are dumping so many items on the world (such as your car) and finding many ways of avoiding tariffs.

Their production of everything is astounding and with 1.4b people, even though they are transitioning to more renewables, at least they have the common sense, absent in Bowen’s tiny mind, to do it sensibly.

The pollution is so huge from China and India, Australia’s efforts are miniscule, yet Bowen thinks we can clean the entire world’s atmosphere! L

Reply: “ I agree. Our car was subsidized by the CCCP, as were thousands of others now sitting on wharves awaiting buyers. The effect on the car industry has been huge. VW closing factories and reducing output. Ford losing $100k on every EV they sell, Honda and Nissan discussing merging, and so on. It (our car) cost about $25k retail with every imaginable safety device. Rego was nearly $2k which by comparison is ridiculously expensive. The biggest cost of owning a car is depreciation (especially when you travel low kms) so buying cheap reduces this effect. Our friend bought a BMW 8 series for $300k and was offered $30k as a trade-in after 3 years”.
