VW closing factories and reducing output. Ford losing $100k on every EV they sell, Honda and Nissan discussing merging, and so on. It (our car) cost about $25k retail with every imaginable safety device. Rego was nearly $2k which by comparison is ridiculously expensive. The biggest cost of owning a car is depreciation (especially when you travel low kms) so buying cheap reduces this effect. Our friend bought a BMW 8 series for $300k and was offered $30k as a trade-in after 3 years”.
