Due to the complex systems impacting auto manufacture and use, IMO the movement towards complete electrification of our national fleet will not be a straight chart line upwards.
Variables will change such as: -Government carrot and stick tactics -Global and international CO2 taxes whether add-on or embedded -health concern particuluarly in cities -affordability of personal vehicles vs public transport -lifestyles generally including work
For example in the 80s many Brisbanites choose to drive to Sydney/Canberra for a holiday and nowadays they fly & rent a car if necessary.
Perhaps in future we'll have an app for trip car rentals just like the electric scooters now and as such particuluarly in city areas, car ownership will be seen as "anti-environmental" rather than a status symbol. For most of us, a $80K luxury car or 4 door Ute is not necessary to get us to and from work but just look at rush hour and/or outside schools before and after school ?!!!!!
