I have both a Hybrid and ICE Yaris same year models:
Hybrid: 3.6 L/100 Kms ICE:.....5.7 L/100 kms
I can appreciate petrol heads/diesel heads having an emotive reaction to EVs . Im a diesel specialist having been employed in the diesel vehicle/diesel engine industry for over 30 years but I have been converted to EVs with HEVs & PHEVs as the transition.
As the R&D costs are met by the EVs , we'll see a significant drop in price EU & US import tariffs on Chinese EVs will also help.
Keep in mind that the EV industry is only about 10 years old and manufacturers have had to design, test manufacture completely new models while ICE development has always been increments ...that is a component change now, another later, a facelift now and a bum lift later and as such R&D costs were spread out over decades if not a century!
