There is still some concern about home charging EVs
because of the fire risk, IMO. Li-Ion batteries can be
volatile when either fully charged or pressure put on them when they
are close to empty but computer controlled charging and cooling
have minimised that risk recently.

There have been a spate of house fires due to Lit-Ion battery charging
of scooters. This however hasn't translated into EV caused house fires
Insurance on Plug-ins, however, is higher than Hybrids.
I got a quote yesterday for my hybrid and hypothetically I asked the
insurer if a Plug-in would be more expensive and he said generally yes.
