But ICE engines these days are very fuel efficient small capacity DOHC alloy jobs (often turbocharged), which for most users, really negates the need to add the extra cost and complexity of a hybrid set up. With the exception of those travelling very high kilometres, hybrid buyers are really wasting their money (especially if they’re buying with finance).

Having said all that, with the current level of battery technology, I would still take a mild hybrid over an EV any day of the week.

But for now, it’s a no frills ICE car every time.
