What will that do to your electricity costs given that reliable coal fired energy sources have been decimated and only partially compensated for by renewables that need renewing every couple of decades? By increasing EV's on the road, how will that tackle CBD congestion? A current petrol station per fuel fill turnaround is around 10 minutes - how long will an EV spend at a charging station thus aiding congestion.

Replacing one energy source by another does not necessarily address reducing usage nor reduce costs to consumers. Not much has been done to curtail usage of ever increasing 'wants'. Business shifts are simply a way of making money - money making hardly ever includes reductions in consumerism - it more then likely fuels it. Even insurance companies gain from disasters - a way to increase insurance premiums. As for governments, they'll spend money any which way to suit agendas - currently climate change fears - inflation a good way to increase revenues and spend more on renewables. Less is more principles are not on any agenda - apart from the 'dirty' CO2 reduction push. Never know, farmers may soon be mandated to use butt plugs for their cows.
