I had my first day motoring in a Hybrid. I put up 87 kms in the city/outer city and when I parked, I selected the fuel consumption button and...hey presto..... 29.3 kms/litre (3.41 Litres/100 kms. ) Sure I watched the gauges and drove as much as I could on EV/Eco, but that was an amazing difference to my 11 Litres/100 kms normal drive.
With petrol now $2.20-$2.30 /litre this , IMO, is where things are heading.
