hmmmm -- whilst I probably am known for bitching and complaint ---------

I really only have a few reservations about the future that Oz has against it -

opportunity is not one of them.

I believe that humans are on the mere cusp of a technological explosion.

I think basically that, we ain't seen nuttin yet.

The problems lie in our foundation -

    1. Ozzie dinner table culture is to look after the family so it can buy bigger houses and have more money -
it lacks the drive of ---------- to make a better future for everyone. That's problem 1.

    2. Point 1 has created the situation where we just don't value real education, we've gutted it. That and research.

    3. We've got the most shallow society comparatively.

Example - take a household which - might have an income of apx. $300,000 to $400,000 ish.

Now, in much of Europe - you would find teenage or just before kids in houses like that would be at theatre a couple times a week, they would have read copious amounts of books, they would have been exposed to arts and history and sciences etc.. They would have been taught to have enquiring minds, they would have curiosity burned into them.

In Australia - the same age kids would have their pursuits as touch football and netball.

If kids from Europe go to another country - they WANT to go to museums, historic places, places of cultural interest.

Aussie kids - they want to go to Disneyland.

We have no foundation that is required - at political level, at economic level and dinner table level to jump in deep to the tidal wave of new ultra high technological development.

I look at how moorookamick thinks ------- and, I respect moorookamick ----------- he makes it clear that we have a quarry culture. We have a job training culture and the best we can do is to extend that to melting dirt.

We have no classical education culture at all. We have no guts or will for advancing. We have little curiosity - and what we have is solidly wacked down by a culture that just doesn't 'generally 'allow for anything barring 'get a haircut and get a job'

which is a terrible shame - because in the little light sparks where we do have such things ------- Oz is dammed good at it and very exciting.

the problem is that there's just far too little of it. Miniscule in fact.

But - my point is ------ that IMO - the opportunities haven't stopped - IMO, they have barely begun.
