Apart from the lower maintenance costs, that's why Taxis use Hybrids. Unlike you, taxi owners and operators know precisely what their operational
and general cost of ownership costs
are and they do that over fleets

When it comes to EV's, those costs are changing rapidly:

Insurance costs are on the rise due claimed rises in claims but additionally:

    excerpt:

Another factor is the uptake of electric cars with some arguing that repair costs are increasing as a result of the more sophisticated technology packed inside the vehicles.

Drivers are being hammered by car insurance prices with some people seeing quotes as high as 8200 pounds for a popular electric car.

Obviously that figure is extreme and one should shop around but the fact remains that EV's have issues and the notion of a cheap refill will be offset adversely in other areas of EV ownership and the notion of an EV being better for the environment is a pipedream as the ever increasing gadgetry and additional features in vehicles means more materials are needed and how is that good for the planet??

As far as hybrids are concerned there again are more materials needed overall than simply a conventional ICE vehicle as there are two propulsion systems hence the vehicle is more complex and thus can be more costly in servicing and is still subject to battery degradation. AIMO
