If you have an EV with a decent range and treat the battery with some sympathy you can easily work with a reduction in capacity over many years. For every Tesla Model S that has needed a refurbished battery there are more than 3 still going strong after their first decade with at least 75% of their original range. Of course it will take a while before most of the current crop of EVs will even reach their warranty expiry but current indications are that the newer BMS and chemistries will prove to have an even longer life than their predecessors.
