Muddie, you must be getting desperate when you resort to the Biblical.
You have to realise that cars/car ownership costs are mostly government
    controlled:
-import duties (not applicable to FTA countries)
    -GST
    -Rego fees
-petrol & Diesel excise + GST
    -tax concessions#
    -road tolls
    -etc etc etc.

At present the Government's objective is to have 50/50 EVs/vs ICEs by 2030 in new sales
and to phase out ICEs entirely by 2050 and that will be implemented by the government
carrot/stick strategy.......cripple the ICEs with tax and offer tax concessions to the EVs
while maintaining consistent revenue to support transport infrastructure.

What does this mean for buyers of new cars ?
Well unless there are massive tax advantages in buying a new ICE now, buyers will
have to account for the likely hyper depreciation of an expensive ICE between
now and 2030 and the probable massive hike in fuel costs

All IMO only and buyers of expensive new ICEs should consult their professional financial
advisor re financial risk and strategies to minimise it.......eh?

#Post 2014 when the Libs realised that they could conquest the Tradie/working class vote, they
heaped tax concessions on tradies and self employed and the new twin tub ute became the norm
because it had commercial rego and as such did not attract the 2/7 fringe benefits tax and of course
recently the TT ute can be written off 100% in a tax year by small businesses.

But like the Government's $2K subsidy for LPG, all that will likely stop abruptly, IMO ,
as the 2030 50/50 deadline approaches.

IMO the next serious EV on the Block will be the TT Ute with Hybrids leading the way
to ultimately BEVs with the tax concessions now enjoyed by ICE Utes only available
to Hybrids/BEVs.This will be a slightly different gig for those who like to dip the boat
in the water on the weekend!
