I'm keenly aware that petrol heads are mainly emotional; not
economically rational, because they go for today's emotional hit
rather than considering the longer term environmental impact
of climate change on humanity. This IMO is evident in older
males who don't have that long to live anyway!
Those with high IQs and the incomes to match, namely
doctors, medical specialists etc, are opting for EVs
and hybrids for the simple reason that its the right thing to do.
Imo we are having the carrot approach by Governments
globally in the form of rego concessions , ev grants, etc,
but IMO within 5 years we'll see the stick approach with
super taxes on fossil fuels, a doubling of ICE regos and
restricted ICE access to CBDs and CBD parking
So for a business buying new vehicles, ICEs are
the most economic choice because businesses
usually change their vehicles every 3-4 years for tax reasons
but once the tax act changes (Government Stick approach)
then, IMO, it will see a mass move to hybrids and Plug-ins
And the individual pleb who has bought his ICE for 10
year's use will be crueled by depreciation and higher
running costs.
So in summary, ICE cars will likely be phased out over the next 25-30 years
with the odd classic car being kept by enthusiasts /collectors for sentimental
reasons while he uses an EV/public transport for getting around.
Over the next 25 years we are likely to see transport changes rivalling
that of 1900 to 1925 when the horse was made redundant in the west
