In the traditional bible of Auto Manufacturing the norm was:
    -20 year rolling strategic plan
-10 year model generations with facelifts after 5
-5 year review/tweak of the Strategic Plan
-Annual reviews of the business and marketing plans.

IMO, China has been the biggest disrupter to the Auto Bible
particularly its featuring in 2014 of auto manufacturing/R&D
in its "Made in China 2025 mega marketing plan.

China now commands about 30% of global auto manufacturing
(more in spare parts) and it is gaining incrementally by the year.
Trump tariffs on Chinese imports 6 years let the Chinese supply
chain Gini out of the Bottle.

Even the biggest 'auto disrupter" Tesla is greatly dependant on China
for both manufacturing and spare parts/components.
