Given that the used car market is about 2.5 times the size of the new car market annually,
there is obviously a shortage of good/low Km used EVs (hybrid or BEVs) hitting the used
market annually. To address this, the Comm Gov. has recently changed the Regulations regarding
the importation of used vehicles into Aus (Grey Imports) .
Prior to this most used imported cars and SUVs were ICE based on the premise that
that model was not imported new by the OEM/OEM agent.
A year ago that changed and now there are essentially 4 catogeries of permitted used vehicle imports:
- Environmental: Vehicles not imported in full volume which have environmental merits eg: Hybrids/BEVs
-NIDS Vehicles: Special vehicles for the disabled
-Campers/Mobile Homes: To suit the grey brigade etc
-High powered sports cars that are not imported in full volume
- Forums
- Political Debate
- Hybrids Vs PHEVs vs All Electric
