Most industrialised Western Countries have already committed to
net Zero Carbon emissions by 2050 (China by 2060) and given that
transport makes up about 17% of global emissions, that, IMO, spells
an end to ICE powered vehicles ; particularly domestic ones.
In the interim, Governments of all ilks will use the carrier and stick
to achieve this carbon free transition, IMO, so when one buys a new
set of wheels now, one has to consider how much depreciation and
running costs one is likely to cop over the 15 year life of the vehicle
Sure, some will say that I change my wheels every 4 years but
the cost of ownership cringe will be relative over that time, IMO.
If we look at Europe, then its reasonable to assume that within
a few years, Aus will be ditto. Diesel and Petrol in Europe is
at least 50% more expensive as Aus with growing restrictions
on ICE vehicles in CBDs
So, in summary, the old saying is very true here....".those who fail to plan,
plan to fail"
