Your Tourareg is foreign made and likely your caravan too....eh? The average Aussie doesn't to a caravan let alone tow a caravan long distance.
With the current price of fuel (and add 30% more for towing) its \ more economic to fly from Sydney to Adelaide and take decent accommodation in Adelaide. and rent a car then to do local touring.
The purpose of Hybrids is to reduce fuel consumption (reduce CO2 emissions ) primarily in metro areas where nearly 80% of Aussies live.
Full EVs are for either Metro or Hwy provided there is adequate re-charging infrastructure and at present there is not enough fast charge stations nationally.....just enough for a drive car daily drive in metro/outer metro areas. .........but IMO this will radically change over the next 10 years. This is why hybrids are outselling full electrics by 3 to 1.
