I would have to ask the question for the umpteenth time, what benefit is there to the widows and orphans in spending public monies that could be available to make their lives better , on making vehicles for upper middle class people cheaper?
Electric vehicles are inevitable , there is no need to spend public money to hasten the inevitable.

On incentives for us to make cars .
Been there , done that .
    An expensive failure.
I would rather we imported them, and paid for them with efficiently grown or mined , unsubsidised produce.

On a different note , I am struggling to get my head around the fuel efficiency standards .
Are they based on the petrol used , or the life-cycle carbon intensity of the car.
My concern would be does a 3 ton electric car might rate as better than a Kia Picanto for instance?
    cheers
