    We'll be subject to a carbon tax whether we like it or not
    simply because the OECD countries have signed up to
    a Carbon Neutral status by 2050 (China by 2060)

    The former Lib/Coalition Government agreed to that 4 years ago
    and Labor, if anything, will accelerate that process.

    So, IMO, if you have a house, just install Solar while Governments
    are offering very generous subsidies & you can subsequently install
    a storage battery later to charge up the car overnight should it be economically
    beneficial to do so.

    That said, State Governments will likely levy a km change to cover roads and transport infrastructure
    whereby gizmos in the car will transmit kms to a Government receiving stations for automatic debiting
    of your credit card like the Toll charging system with a similar system for avoidance.
