Well what's your solution given that both sides of politics have agreed on Aus being carbon neutral by 2050.
Is it to run the big polluters right up to 31st Dec 2049 , stop them in their tracks , crush them and wave a magic wand and hey presto... 14 million zero CO2 emission replacements.
What this Government is doing and highly likely subsequent governments will do is to gradually phase out the CO2 emitters and replace then with zero tailpipe CO2 emitters . If we follow others, that will likely be done via carrot & stick , IMO.
PS: Aus does not make cars nowadays so it will be up to Auto manufacturing . countries O/S to minimise/offset CO2 during the manufacturing process. That's non of our business....we're just buyers/drivers .
