Shock jock.....
There is a shortage of used BEV & Hybrids in Aus and given
that the used market is about 3 times the size of the new market, this shortage
of supply will likely increase, IMO.
The Comm Government should review the MVSA and allow used RHD popular
makes/models such as used Tesla BEVs & used Toyota Camry Hybrids to be imported
from Japan. Unlike pre 2017, we dont have a local car manufacturing industry to support
and the current import restrictions only protect Multinational Car makers' profits rather
than benefiting the average Aussie who can't afford to buy a new car.
If we remove Government & Corporate buying of new cars (amounts to over 60% of all
new car sales) only 10% of Aussie motorists can afford to buy a new car.
We have a FTA with Japan , yet we are not allowed to import used Japanese vehicles
from Japan unless they are orphan EVs, orphan hoon Sports cars, Wellcabs (for disabled) or
limited Campers .
IMO we should adopt the NZ standard so that the average Aussie can benefit from our FTA with Japan...
not only the Multinational Auto Manufacturers.
