Agree, the fear of leaking H2 should not be compared with the production of CO2 from fossil fuels. Leaking H2 is equivalent to an oil spill, and yet the fear of oil spills hasn't stopped fossil fuel companies from wanting to drill anywhere they can.
To throw your hands up and announce that H2 is hard to store (or insert any other fear that you can come up with), so we shouldn't bother attempting using this as a technology going forward is exceptionally short sighted. We humans can be pretty clever and inventive, and the whole point of pushing green hydrogen here is to solve and iron out all the the issues that the weak minded feel are too hard to bother solving.
