Yes Whatsa, looking back, PPP1.0 was supposed to lead to a larger PP (100kg/day, nothing to do with the MIN PP) and then on to commercial. That was in 2016.
But an extra step was added when they decided to build a better reactor for the same plant, and it became PPP2.0. Several months were added here.
The updated plant performed v well, and they renamed it to PP, but still it produced about 60% less than the 2016 planned PP should have done.
As far as I know, the current PP has quite some efficiency limitations because of its small size. Last June, however, the demo plant came into the mix (100-500kg graphite, 2019/2020 delivery), and soon they went the FBR route.
Meanwhile, under Geoff W, the design capacity is up to about 300 kg/day of hydrogen and 1,050 kd/day graphite. It certainly points to all the earlier PP aims being well below optimal.
It’s all taken longer than expected at first, but I guess that’s quite normal when you create something from scratch. Hopefully we won’t see many more hold-ups now that FEED is complete.
