Good article, I follow Ange McD coz she writes a lot of good articles.
There's a huge hurdle for Hydrogen to be used in existing hydrocarbon pipelines that I seldom hear talked about. While its known H2 should be safe at concentrations of 5-10%, there's no regulations. All the standards for pipelines refer to hydrocarbons, not H2. So none is covered by insurance.
Try having US $43BN of uninsured exposure and see how many groups agree to it.
Not insurmountable, but certainly lots of work to be done to enable H2 blending into existing CH4 pipelines.
