My gut feeling is that they are playing thier cards close to their chest... until after the Federal election.
WA already has a Labor Govt.... the application for Fed funding is for... middle of the year... after the Fed Election.
No point getting all chummy with the outgoing crowd.
Pretty sure GW got huge Govt support for Geodynamics.... from a Labor Fed Govt.
