If the rules could written in a circular way, then Hazer's ace would be its ability to generate negative emissions using biomethane, which could offset fugitive emissions associated with natural gas.I saw an estimate that 2-3% of natural gas produced globally ends up in the atmosphere.
In a bad case scenario - say 4% gets lost en route to a Hazer plant - then already one 2,500tpa biomethane plant could neutralise 60,000tpa of H2 produced using natural gas.
This ought to give naysayers pause for thought. There's no shortage of methane hotspots around the world to abate.
