The private sector's interest in methane pyrolysis is growing. Hazer Group, founded in 2010 in Australia, specializes in hydrogen and high-purity graphite production, has achieved a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of 7. Their thermo-catalytic approach utilizes a fluidized bed reactor, heated to 900 °C, to convert natural gas into hydrogen and graphite using iron ore. Iron catalysts are fluidized in the gas stream, interacting with methane to produce hydrogen and graphite. The catalyst particles disintegrate into nanofragments, allowing graphite to accumulate and be separated. The gas stream is filtered to yield high-purity graphite and pure hydrogen [14]."
