    It's good to see complementary methods emerging to produce H2 because I’m sure we'll need them in the long-run. Anything that helps the H2 economy off the ground is welcome.

    This new technique could give PEM electrolysis a real run for its money. But since both depend on water (PEM certainly needs clean water), increasing water-scarcity globally could well stunt their growth potential.

    Hazer doesn’t seem to suffer from short-term constraints. It’ll use plentiful iron ore to turn plentiful, unloved fossil fuel into silk purses. It could keep going for many decades, perhaps a century or even two. It’s also well placed to accelerate the energy tradition. If it works as it’s meant to, it could be the big silver bullet the world needs (but which it doesn’t seem to know yet).
