Silver is heavy and frustration to move. You will need somewhere to store it safely unless you buy it through a bullion vault. Additionally, you will pay premium fees on silver of up to 9% of the spot price when you purchase it. I would buy physicial for a real long term, but if you plan to move it in a few years if it spikes, invest in the mining stocks as most of the time (given a good financial state and no mining issues) they follow the spot price up and down.
