Yes Stumpy, Lismore has had gas pipelines for almost 130 years.
In 1987 the pipelines supplied 1539 customers with gas, but in the last few years that has dropped down to three customers with the rest switched over to bottled gas.
The last three remaining customers are the two large hospitals, St Vincent's and the Base Hospital and the KFC.
It is pretty mind boggling when you consider the mayor of Lismore Jenny Dowell is trying to stop the development of gas and the building of gas pipelines in the Richmond Valley LGA while the two major life saving institutions in the Lismore LGA rely on gas pipelines for their energy source.
Hypocrite or total noongs - it would be a tight race.
