    G'day all,

Wondering if this may provide something for you to get your teeth into.

Lets just say that a couple of Baby Boomers have no kids, own outright the house that they are happy to live in for the rest of their lives and have as their only other asset $2m in cash.

They are happy with a modest but comfortable lifestyle that the $2m wisely invested should be able to provide.

They want to invest the $2m as a "lazy" investment. I.e. they don't want to have to manage the investment on a daily, weekly or even monthly basis - possibly a "once a year" review. And, the investment should be as close to "risk free" as possible.

    How to invest this?

Term deposit with bank? Almost 100% risk free but a fairly low return (taxable).

A portfolio of blue chips? Fairly low risk, 4% return (dividends) but minimal tax after splitting between two and franking credits.

    Gov Bonds? Are they available?

Real Estate? Probably too much work/worry. However good long term returns.

    etc etc

Whilst the above is totally hypothetical, I am sure that there are many Baby Boomers who have thought about getting to that position where, whilst not being rich, they can pretty much do with the rest of their live as they wish.

    Your input genuinely sought.
