you mentioned a type of annuity scheme involving the personal home earlier in this thread.
I had a veeerrryy close look at these schemes in operation in the UK middle of last year. They do not work in quite the way your post suggested. Indeed they are extremely rewarding to the 'other party' in almost any circumstance.
I understand they were attempted to be launched here about ten years ago and fell in a heap but should an extended bear market and a property crash conincide it may end up being an option that elderly people look upon as a legitimate (albeit high cost) source of retirement income).
Clearly I am recommending it from the lenders point of view...give me a hoy if you would like to know a bit more!
