    Get your tax advice from an accountant NOT HC. My accountant claimed interest on non income bearing investments I was stuck in for 6 years. They did pay before the GFC but then all distributions stopped. Share baskets as well as property syndicats. Just out of one now and put it all into SDL. One more to go next month.
