If biogas is being termed renewable, using it as a feedstock may satisfy terming Hazer produced hydrogen as a clean chemical. An issue though is that there is no wastewater or biogas facility that exists, which can produce seriously high volumes of biogas to make much of a dent. I doubt there is a biogas facility which can produce enough to allow enough hydrogen to be made that could run decent commercial fertiliser plants.

Really there needs to be networks of biogas, which again is seriously hard to commercialise. Adding it into the gas networks with blending can work and would drop the existing domestic gas networks carbon footprint and all of that. But it wont be as significant as people dream about.

Our best angle is like the team have said. Co-located at existing facilities, producing hydrogen with a by product that can be sold not dumped, and significantly displacing existing hydrogen production emmissions via ATR and SMR. Unfortunately it probably just doesnt qualify as green, isnt going to qualify for alot of geant programs wanting this fabled electrolyser hydrogen and utilises the dreaded fossil fuels pathways and gets ignored for such benefits. Thats a shame.
