A FOURTH Carpenter cabinet minister is on the verge of being sacked as evidence to the Western Australian corruption probe detailed how Local Government Minister John Bowler gave lobbyist Julian Grill the inside information on cabinet decisions.
For the first time, the state's Crime and Corruption Commission played tapes from a bug placed inside the West Perth home of Mr Grill, the business partner of former WA premier Brian Burke.

Despite Mr Bowler constantly denying suggestions from CCC senior counsel Stephen Hall that he had leaked secret information to the lobbyist, Mr Bowler was gob-smacked when the commission played the tapes.

Other evidence heard went to the heart of the processes involved in several major mining projects during 2006 which exposed improper conduct on behalf of several senior bureaucrats and politicians.
