IDT can certainly be part of the early development of certain of these projects for dosage form development, manufacture and controls, Phase 1 and Phase 2 Clinical Trials. The difficulty is that local funding support from Govt through grants and additional tax incentives is as bad as it gets. Govt policies have hurt the innovative development side of the Australian Pharmaceutical Industry. It has always been difficult to take potential new products past the very early institutional/private collaboration phases but now it is harder than ever. The risk capital for the later more expensive development and trialling stages is just not available locally.

The ideal scenarios is for early phase local collaboration between a Biotech and IDT with their involvement continuing after the International money feeds back from the big Pharmas. A lower A$ will assist this process.
