    Well Penny and a few hardheads like Tony Burke are really in charge in the chambers and the party room, so the fact that Chalmers is gutless and lacking confidence (but not ambition) is no obstacle.

    If the MP's and the rank and file decide its time for Albo to go i.e they don't get a sustained budget bounce, a revolt is going to happen.

    They might be crooks and traitors but they are not suicidal, and would not hesitate to throw Albo overboard. They can do basic arithmetic and are bare knuckle brawlers in the back rooms along with the Union heavyweights who keep it all funded. Having had a taste of life on the government benches, they don't want to go back to opposition without a fight.

    Just ask Kevin and Julia.
