Are you sure you haven't jumped out of the frying pan into the fire? If I was concerned enough about the bank I have my savings with to close my accounts, NAB would not be anywhere near the top of my list to switch to.
Bankwest is still subject to the Australian regulatory environment, including meeting the capital requirements imposed on any holder of an Australian banking licence in its own right (at least I assume they have to meet the requirement in their own right and can't rely on their parents capital position). A run on the bank as a result of people sharing your view is a far more likely potential cause of demise for Bankwest than anything that happens to HBOS overseas.
