Whether or not there is a dead rat the market thinks there is a dead rat.
Same thing with the shorts - actually irrelevant whether someone was shorting - everyone thought someone was shorting (via media reports/rumours etc).
Buy side never went above 750,000 (vs 22,000,000) apart from open and close. (fear was palpable)
The media basically said it was aiming for 7.50 today and everyone played along.
