What are the applications for graphite now and into the future?
Pauldola, Jaded and many others have raised these issues and discussed them extensively on the graphite thread.
Some pointers there as to why the Chinese may have become "interested" in graphite and also highly questionable as to extent and quality of their current resource.
As to pricing, have a look at IO now. This is the nature of the "resource industry" - and provides a lot of comfort to s/h's about the long-term contract BB has negotiated and the ongoing negotiations with others.
