The $3.5bil cash is what makes it a big issue. They could earn more money in bank interest. Sack everyone and earn 5% interest? Become venture capitalists and loan that money out at a higher/riskier 12%?
Its a pathetic profit for their market cap. Its why sp has struggled so long.
Also how much of the cash is earmarked for new planes?
Its stupid that it has taken government intervention to force compromise. Lets hope the outcome is acceptable to all.
