fossil record An interesting fossil record of the Cenozoic Period was unearthed in Peru last week. A sabre toothed tiger skeleton was found complete under 2 meters of loose bat guano in the floor of a moutain cave in the province of Aija. In it's mouth was the crushed but still recognizable skeleton of a sabre toothed chicken. Microscopic examination revealed fossilized chicken phlegm thick with H5N1.
Revised scientific opinion is that the sabretoothed tigers became extinct because their pea brains couldn't equate chickens with death dispite the evidence, and their falling numbers.
"It's a common mistake to anthropomorphise animal behaviour. But let's face it, sabertoothed tigers weren't known for their reasoning skills." said Prof. Nob of the Pond's Institute. 'No great loss really.",he said.
