    The number of times Ive held a stock through an initial downturn, only to sell out once it returned to my buy-in price (like that makes any difference), then watch the stock march on to much greater highs...

    If you were going to sell you should have sold much earlier, what is so magical about selling out 'at a small profit' now that you have done all the hard yards?
