From experience let me tell you that as long as the equipment has been refurbished correctly there should be no issues with it's use. From a service company point of view subsea equipment is extremely expensive and it's prohibitive to continually buy new equipment therefore at the end of each job the equipment is serviced and re-used. If this equipment has been refurbished and then certified using stringent QA / QC controls then I would be more than happy for it to be used.

The problem with the corrosion on the fittings is down to someone making a mistake. The issue is if it was on surface then it's an easy fix on the sea floor then it's another story all together.

I was on a job once where an engineer forgot to install a plug in the chemical injection port and the whole completion had to be pulled at the cost of millions off dollars. People make mistakes but its the circumstances that dictate the costs.
