"the entire subsea tree has been replaced"
I doubt very much that this has been the case...the vessel they were trying to reconnect the riser with would have taken a month of Sundays to do this job! The Proteus only handled the riser section repair.
The sub-sea trees were second hand refurbished, so you would assume had already proved themselves on a previous job/s...they would have been allocated a likely life span after refurbishment.
