I don't believe it would have been possible for the current management to know the trial wasn't going to work prior to the trial (hence the point of the trial). of course they would have had their best attempt at validating that the science and data supported this new trial. but to me the major deficit is with Tis resting on their laurels for years expecting ema approval. they could and should have been conducting proper trials during this period and none of the recent events would have occurred (or would have occurred years ago).
I can guarantee CB would not have set the trial up without taking his best look at the existing data etc. there is no incentive for him to become involved in the company if he knew it didn't work. he joined to help prove whether it worked (and presumably in the belief that it actually did). they have now proven that, and again I see the responsibility for where we are at resting squarely with the original management
